Meet the MAX Morning Show’s Mike Lee

Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, on June 9, 1963, he was raised in Florida. He dropped out of school at age 15 in the hopes of becoming a rock musician. He fronted a series of garage bands including The Kids, which once opened for Iggy Pop. He got into acting after a visit to Los Angeles, California, with his former wife, Lori Anne Allison, who introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage. He made his film debut in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). In 1987 he shot to stardom when he replaced Jeff Yagher in the role of undercover cop Tommy Hanson in the popular TV series 21 Jump Street (1987).

But enough about Johnny Depp. Mike was born in the hustle and bustle of “The City” in Oklahoma. That’s Oklahoma City for you normal people. It’s really the only City in Oklahoma. The others that make such a claim, like Tulsa, are just wannabes. No offense, they just aren’t very City like…anyway. When he was but a wee lad, Mike and his family took a trip to San Antonio, TX where they visited Sea World, and Mike was introduced to the Great Killer Whale, Shamu. Mike was inspired by the mystical beast, and decided he was going to become a marine biologist, and one day perform on the stage with the very animals he was so awe struck by that fateful day in San Antonio. He diligently studied marine life, and began taking acting classes. After years of hard work and dedication to the field, Mike now works for Hall Communications in Lakeland, FL as an On Air Personality. Wow, how did that happen?

Well, it started in college when Mike got his first summer job as an actor for a Production Company based in Arlington, TX. He got hooked on comedy, and realized that he didn’t really care about those stupid whales anyway. Mike began pursuing a new dream, and for the next ten years he studied comedic acting, as he traveled around the country entertaining audiences of all ages. In December of 2004, Mike made the move to the Sunshine State, and by November of 2008 he was a successful – bartender. Wait…what? That’s right, Mike got laid off from his acting job, and had to take his love of beer to the bank.

But behind the scenes, Mike was still following his dream of performing. And it all paid off when Mike’s soon-to-be mentor, Eric Michaels, begged, that’s right, BEGGED Mike to join the morning team at Max 98.3. Now Mike spends his mornings making Eric’s hair turn grey, one strand at a time, and if Mike is having a good day, two strands at a time. It’s been a lot fun though, and Mike is happy to be part of the team that makes the morning show so, well, amazing! Who knows what the future holds for Mike, but if the past truly has a tendency to repeat itself, I see a career as a comedic garbage man in the cards. But we here at Max hope that doesn’t happen. We think Mike is awesome…that’s right…Mike…is…AWESOME!

Whatever…
