Elton John Announces 50th Anniversary 'Honky Château' Reissue

UMe has announced the 50th-anniversary reissue of Elton John's Honky Château.

Available to pre-order now at https://eltonjohn.lnk.to/HC50 on 2CD, 2LP and limited-edition gold vinyl LP, the album is set to be released on March 24.

Along with the announcement, "Rocket Man (Live at The Festival Hall, London 1972)" and "Mellow" (Session Demo) were also unveiled as the first instant grats available from Honky Château 50th Anniversary Edition.

This live debut of "Rocket Man at the Royal Festival Hall" - recorded two months before its release as the album's first single - is striking in its freshness and its ability to nearly replicate the studio arrangement on stage.

The line-up of Davey Johnstone (guitar), Dee Murray (bass) and Nigel Olsson (drums) immediately established itself as the core of the "classic" Elton band, solidifying Elton's studio and stage presence through his most prolific period.

Originally released in May 1972, Elton's 5th studio album Honky Château was his step into global superstardom.

Ozzy Osbourne Retiring From Touring Due To Spinal Injury

Ozzy Osbourne Retiring From Touring Due To Spinal Injury

Ozzy Osbourne recently took to social media to announce that he is retiring from touring due to a spinal injury.

Ozzy has scrapped the remaining dates of his No More Tours II that first began in 2018. In 2019, he postponed the European leg of the tour after he injured himself in a fall at home that aggravated a spinal injury he initially suffered during a nearly fatal quad-bike accident in 2003. After health complications and the Covid-19 pandemic caused more postponements, tour dates were scheduled for May 2023 that have now been canceled.

"This is probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to share with my loyal fans," Ozzy wrote in a statement shared across his social accounts. "As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine. My one and only purpose during this time has been to get back on stage. My singing voice is fine. However, after three operations, stem cell treatments, endless physical therapy sessions, and most recently groundbreaking Cybernics (HAL) Treatment, my body is still physically weak."

Saying that he is "humbled" by his fans' decision to hold onto their No More Tours II tickets for close to four years, Ozzy wrote, "But in all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I'm not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn't deal with the travel required. Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F*CKS ME UP, more than you will ever know."

"Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way. I want to thank my family..my band...my crew..my longtime friends, @JudasPriest, and of course, my fans for their endless dedication, loyalty, and support, and for giving me the life that I never ever dreamed I would have," Osbourne concluded. "I love you all."

U2 Release Reimagined Version Of 'With Or Without You'

U2 Release Reimagined Version Of 'With Or Without You'

U2 recently released a reimagined and re-recorded version of "With Or Without You," the second reimagined track to be released from the band's upcoming collection Songs of Surrender.

Songs Of Surrender, curated and produced by The Edge, features the band revisiting some of the most celebrated songs of their 40-plus year career, including "One," "Beautiful Day," "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "Invisible," for a musical reimagining resulting in a completely new recording of each track.

Explaining about the collection, The Edge said, "The fact is that most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now. Some have grown with us. Some we have outgrown."

"But we have not lost sight of what propelled us to write those songs in the first place," he continued. "The essence of those songs is still in us, but how to reconnect with that essence when we have moved on, and grown so much?"

Songs Of Surrender, a collection of 40 seminal U2 songs, will be released on March 17.

It is available to pre-order in a series of different colored vinyl formats at https://u2.lnk.to/SOS

Each one features 16 tracks on 2 heavyweight LP's, liner notes from Edge & a bespoke finish on the cover.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Share 'The Fillmore House Band' Short Film

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Share 'The Fillmore House Band' Short Film

The Petty Estate recently shared a new video featuring scenes from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' legendary residency at San Francisco's iconic Fillmore.

The 12-minute short film, featuring previously unreleased, never-before-seen footage from the 20-night stand and interviews with The Heartbreakers, is directed by Alison Tavel.

"You feel the history; you feel the ghosts. And you feel the magic that's happened - it's sort of dripping on the walls," Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell says in the video of the film, titled The Fillmore House Band - 1997 (Short Film 2).

"Being that close to the fans was better. I think the stage was a little lower; I think the fans were a little closer," added Keyboardist Benmont Tench. "When you're in a smaller space that's enclosed like that, then the concentration of the energy, the concentration of the band, the focus, is different. That's got a really serious kind of magic."

The first part of the short film, Live at the Fillmore (1997), was released in November.

A documentary about the legendary rock band The Doors is set to make its television premiere on AXS TV on February 1 at 9 pm ET.

The Emmy-nominated and Grammy Award-winning documentary, When You're Strange, will be narrated by actor Johnny Depp.

The doc, which originally released in 2009, tells the story about the band's formation in 1965, its development over the next two years, the release of their debut album and subsequent albums and Jim Morrison's use of alcohol and drugs and subsequent death in Paris in July 1971.

The film features archival footage of rehearsals, TV and concert performances, private cine-film and the background to Morrison's arrest at a 1969 Miami concert and later trial.

It also includes restored and remastered material from Morrison's 1969 short film HWY: An American Pastoral.
