The Guess Who Release New Single 'Headline'

The Guess Who recently released "Headline," the third single from their upcoming album Plein D'Amour.

Plein D'Amour is set to drop on June 30th via a partnership with Deko Entertainment. Earlier, the band had released the album's first two singles, "The King," and the title track.

"Headlines are inherently orchestrated, recurring one-liners regurgitated by our media," said frontman Derek Sharp. "They are negative in nature and most of the time. verbatim en masse. Something genuine, uplifting and inspiring is the path forward. This dusty old review could use a new headline."

Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler Explains Why He Doesn't Talk To Ozzy Osbourne

Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler Explains Why He Doesn't Talk To Ozzy Osbourne

Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler has revealed why he no longer talks to former bandmate Ozzy Osbourne.

In a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Butler, the heavy metal bass guitar icon who played with Osbourne in Black Sabbath, said, "We didn't fall out, it was the wives."

Butler is promoting his newly released autobiography "Into The Void: From Birth To Black Sabbath - And Beyond."

In his memoir, Butler mentioned that he actually keeps in touch with guitarist Tony Iommi. Regarding that, Geezer said, "Yeah, he's always been there for me. You know, he's a good friend. We can slag each other to death. It's like marriage, really. You have terrible arguments, you fall out and you come back together. But he's always there. He always is. I hope he is after this book as well. I still love Bill [Ward, original SABBATH drummer], but he's not on the Internet. If you want to talk to Bill, you have to e-mail his wife and she has to tell him. It's really awkward. [Laughs] Ozzy I don't speak to at all."

Asked if he thinks there's a chance those lines of communication will open back up at some point, Butler said, "I very much doubt it. We didn't fall out; it was the wives."

In the book, Butler wrote about Ozzy: "Me and Ozzy are fine, it's just that we're both ruled by our wives. He's got a big heart and was always there for me."

Black Sabbath disbanded in 2017 after a reunion between the group that saw the release of their final album, 2013's 13.

Live Version Of Frank Zappa's 'Montana' Released Ahead Of Box Set

Live Version Of Frank Zappa's 'Montana' Released Ahead Of Box Set

The Zappa Trust have released an extended version of "Montana" about a couple of weeks ahead of the release of Zappa/Erie, a new six-disc boxed set/digital collection that features a trio of shows that Frank Zappa performed in Erie, Pa. and the surrounding area between 1974-76.

The "Montana" version released on Friday offers a glimpse of what one can expect on the new box set. The show was recorded at Edinboro State College on May 8, 1974. The concert was part of a small, month-long run of shows celebrating the 10th anniversary of Zappa's ever-evolving seminal band, The Mothers, as well as his just-released album, Apostrophe(')

The Zappa/Erie box set is due out on June 17 via Zappa Records/UMe. Zappa/Erie contains more than seven hours of unreleased, live performances from Zappa and three different lineups of incredible musicians from this peak period. The set has 71 tracks in all.

Ahmet Zappa and Zappa Vaultmeister Joe Travers produced the Zappa/Erie box set. The package features front and back cover photos of Zappa by David Rountree Smith, images of the original tapes, and includes original concert fliers, a newspaper review of one of the shows, and a scathing rebuttal to the review from a passionate fan.

Peter Gabriel Shares New Single 'Road To Joy'

Peter Gabriel Shares New Single 'Road To Joy'

Peter Gabriel recently released "Road to Joy," the sixth track from his forthcoming album i/o.

Written by Gabriel and produced by Gabriel and Brian Eno, the song was recorded at Real World Studios, Bath, The Beehive and British Grove, London and High Seas Studios, South Africa.

"Road to Joy" features Soweto Gospel Choir, a string arrangement from John Metcalfe and contributions from a number of Gabriel's current touring band; long-time collaborators Tony Levin (bass), David Rhodes (guitar) and Manu Katche (drums) as well as two newer members Don E (bass keys), and Josh Shpak (trumpet).

'I'm working on a project which is partly a story focused around the brain and how we perceive things and this song connects to that," said Gabriel. "It deals with near-death experience and locked-in syndrome situations where people are unable to communicate or to move. It's an amazingly frustrating condition."

He continued. "There have been some great books and films about this subject, but at this point in our story the people looking after our hero manage to find a way to wake him up. So, it's a lyric about coming back into your senses, back to life, back into the world."

As with previous full moon releases, "Road to Joy" comes with an artist of the month. For this June release the artist is Ai Weiwei and his work 'Middle Finger in Pink'.

Since the release of "Four Kinds of Horses" last month, Peter Gabriel has begun the European leg of the i/o tour, which is garnering rave reviews across the continent.

David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust' Movie, Soundtrack To Be Reissued For 50th Anniversary

David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust' Movie, Soundtrack To Be Reissued For 50th Anniversary

A fully restored version of David Bowie's 1973 movie Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars: The Motion Picture and its soundtrack will be reissued, marking the 50th anniversary of his concert at London's Hammersmith Odeon.

The legendary last ever Ziggy Stardust show is to be made available in full for the first time, digitally restored with remastered audio.

2CD & Blu-ray, 2CD, 2LP limited edition gold vinyl set and digital (standard 44.1khz/16bit and 96khz/24bit) will be released on August 11 and are available for pre-order at https://www.davidbowie.com/ziggy

Renowned filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker captured the momentous event by filming Bowie and The Spiders From Mars backstage and onstage. The digital restoration of the new version of the film has been overseen by his son Frazer Pennebaker with remastered audio.

Although filmed 50 years ago, the movie was not widely seen for over a decade. However, the film and its soundtrack have been newly remastered with the medley of "The Jean Genie/Love Me Do" medley and "Round And Round" featuring the late legendary Jeff Beck reinstated - the latter track making its first appearance anywhere.

Both performances were newly mixed by long-time Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti.

The show featured Bowie's famous speech just before the final encore, "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide," where he revealed that he was retiring the Ziggy Stardust persona. The shocking announcement came as a surprise to all in attendance - including members of his band and was the first proclamation of its kind in rock and roll.

Freddie Mercury's Handwritten Lyrics Reveal Alternate Title For 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

Freddie Mercury's Handwritten Lyrics Reveal Alternate Title For 'Bohemian Rhapsody'

A lyric sheet containing Freddie Mercury's handwritten notes for Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" reveals the song was nearly titled "Mongolian Rhapsody."

The 15 pages of lyrics, written on stationary for a defunct airline, are among the over 1,500 personal items belonging to the Queen singer that are coming up for auction this month, according to an announcement by auction house Sotheby's.

As the handwritten lyrics reveal, the song was originally titled "Mongolian Rhapsody" before Mercury crossed it out and replaced it with the similarly syllabic "Bohemian."

The working lyrics also feature some unused verses - "Mama/There's a war began/I've got to leave tonight," one page has jotted down - as well as several alternative words that could have been sung in lieu of "Galileo!," "Scaramouch!" and "Fandango": "Momento," "Belladonna," "Matador," to name just a few.

Sotheby's expects the lyric sheets for "Mongolian Bohemian Rhapsody" to fetch between £800,000 to £1.2 million at auction, making it one of the most expensive items at the Freddie Mercury: A World of His Own event.

David Byrne's New Broadway Show Faces Opposition From Musicians' Union

David Byrne's New Broadway Show Faces Opposition From Musicians' Union

David Byrne's new Broadway show "Here Lies Love," a collaboration with Fatboy Slim that is scheduled to begin previews at New York's Broadway Theater on June 17, is reportedly facing opposition from the musicians' union.

According to reports, the American Federation of Musicians' Local 802 claims the production violates the union's contract with the Broadway League as it uses pre-recorded tracks instead of a live band. The contract stipulates that all musicals at the Broadway Theater must employ at least 19 musicians.

"A show with no live music and just pre-recorded tracks is absolutely an existential threat to Broadway- and is a cultural threat to musical theater worldwide," said Local 802 president and Executive Director Tino Gagliardi. "For generations, audiences have experienced Broadway shows with live music performed by the best musicians in the world, and by using just pre-recorded tracks it not only cheapens the art it's putting jobs and livelihoods at risk. Our musicians are heartbroken that David Byrne - a legend - is attempting this and we strongly hope he reconsiders."

Byrne and the production team of "Here Lies Love" responded to the opposition to the more unconventional scoring of the show and said that it is not meant to be a "traditional" production.

"Here Lies Love is not a traditional Broadway musical," Byrne and the show's statement reads in part. "The music is drawn outside of the traditional musical genre. The performance of the live vocals to pre-recorded, artificial tracks is paramount to its artistic concept. Production has ripped out the seats in the theater and built a dance floor. There is no longer a proscenium stage. The Broadway Theatre has been transformed into a nightclub, with every theatergoer immersed in the experience. In many ways, Here Lies Love is pioneering this kind of dance club track-act immersion on Broadway."

The production has reportedly requested a "special situation" stipulation, which would allow the show to proceed with less than the required number of musicians.

Rock legend Bruce Springsteen fell down onstage during a concert in Amsterdam on May 27 but fortunately didn't hurt himself.

The musician, who performed "Ghosts" at the concert, fell face-first before rolling onto his back, according to fan videos shared online.

Members of the E Street Band rushed to his side and helped him to his feet. "Goodnight everybody," Springsteen jokingly yelled to the audience, as he made his way back to the center stage.

The show continued without any more issues.

Another fan wrote, "Thank goodness nothing happened to Bruce Springsteen when he fell on stage last night."

Everybody in the world knows when you play The Garden, it's not just New York," he added. "To our audience, I want to thank them for coming to our shows for this long. It's hard to end, even at 150 lifetime shows. I just want to thank everyone for the wonderful thing that's happened here."

"150 sold out lifetime shows is a remarkable achievement, and speaks to Billy's extraordinary talent, beloved catalog, and dedicated fanbase. Billy always has a home here at MSG even though the residency is coming to an end with his 150th lifetime performance," said James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, MSG Entertainment.

"For more than 50 years, Billy's music has defined our city and brought us together. On behalf of 8.5 million New Yorkers, congratulations, Billy, on a historic run of sold-out shows at MSG, and thank you for a lifetime of bringing joy to us all," said New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

The 74-year-old musician has won a number of accolades, including The Kennedy Center Honors and the Grammy Legend Award.
