Joni Mitchell recently released a live performance video for “A Case of You” that was filmed at 2022’s Newport Folk Festival.
The legendary singer and songwriter surprised everyone at the festival last year, when she unexpectedly appeared at the annual music event and performed. Mitchell had suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015 that forced her to re-learn how to walk, talk and sing, and kept her out of the public spotlight.
The song will feature on the upcoming release, At Newport: Featuring the Joni Jam, due out July 28. Produced by close collaborator Brandi Carlile, along with Mitchell, the music will also be released the same day on digital and streaming services and Dolby Atmos.
Mitchell sits in the middle of the stage, surrounded by dozens of people in the video. Carlile begins the first verse, and Mitchell joins in with harmonies, especially emphasizing the song’s “O Canada” line.
